      Blackpool vs Gillingham Predictions

      • Blackpool have lost four of their last five and are currently in 14th place.
      • Gillingham are currently unbeaten in 11 but have only managed to win four of those games.
      • Blackpool have drawn 10 games this season, five of them by a 1-1 scoreline.
      • Gillingham have drawn 13 of their 29 games so far with six of them finishing 1-1.

Can Blackpool build on win over Southend?

Blackpool picked up their first win in nine games at the weekend, beating struggling Southend 2-1 at Bloomfield Road. The side will be hoping they can build some momentum following that victory as they host Gillingham on Tuesday. They’ve lost six of their last nine games though and will need to produce a good display to take maximum points from The Gills, who are on a good run of form.

Blackpool started the season well, going six games unbeaten but their form since then has been patchy and they’ve had to rely heavily on the goals of Armand Gnanduillet, who scored two more at the weekend to take his tally to 14. Their main issue it putting games to bed and they’ve drawn more than they’ve won or lost this season, leaving them languishing in midtable.

Will Gillingham continue their unbeaten run?

The Gills have been on a good, if unspectacular, run in recent weeks with 11 games passing since their loss at AFC Wimbledon at the end of November. Since then they have won four times and drawn seven, going on an unbeaten run that has seen them come close to pushing for a playoff spot without ever quite getting there.

They will be hoping the goals that new signing, John Akinde, will bring to the side will be the difference maker as they try and find a killer instinct. Gillingham have drawn 13 of their 29 games this season showing a resolute defence but a lack of firepower that has stopped them picking up more victories. Another positive result here wouldn’t be amiss but Steve Evans will be hoping his side will find a vital three points and move a little close to a top six finish.

Who will win the battle of Bloomfield Road?

These two sides don’t have much between them overall with neither have spectacular offensive or defensive records over the course of the season. The run Gillingham have been on has been encouraging though and with the wind coming off the North Sea likely to be a big factor in this match, we’re backing Gillingham to pick up the handicap win with the line set at 0.25.

There isn’t a clear winner here and the weather could stop either side playing their preferred style of football and this could lead to a lack of goals at either end of the pitch. Both sides possess a quality striker though and that should lead to both sides having chances. We’re backing this game to finish 1-1 and Gillingham’s unbeaten run to stretch to 12 with yet another draw.
