Middlesbrough Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Blackpool are on a run of just two wins in their last nine outings at Bloomfield Road, while being beaten five times over that period. Middlesbrough meanwhile have won on their last three visits to this stadium and have lost only one of their last five fixtures

Middlesbrough 2-1

Reason for tip

Blackpool have conceded at least two goals in three of their last seven home games, but have also netted in three of their last four at Bloomfield Road. Middlesbrough meanwhile have conceded in each of Michael Carrick’s games in charge, but scored at least two in two of their last three on the road

Blackpool vs Middlesbrough Predictions

  • Blackpool are on a run of back-to-back 1-0 defeats
  • Middlesbrough have lost only one of their last five matches
  • Blackpool have only won two of their last nine at Bloomfield Road

Blackpool in need of a win

Blackpool know they are embroiled in a relegation battle after successive 1-0 defeats left them dangling just two points above the Championship’s relegation zone.

The Tangerines have been particularly poor at Bloomfield Road, where they have won just two of their last nine matches, suffering five defeats in the process.

Indeed, Michael Appleton’s side have been beaten in every home game in which they have conceded the first goal, showing it’s going to be crucial to strike first on Tuesday evening.

Middlesbrough beginning to pick up?

Middlesbrough are also at the wrong end of the table, but a 1-1 draw at Bristol City on Bonfire Night has lifted them out of the bottom three and to within one point of Blackpool.

That result means they have lost just once under new boss Michael Carrick, who won his second game in charge at Hull 3-1.

The Teessiders have still only won twice on the road this season, but are now on a run of one defeat in five at all venues, while they have been successful on their last three trips to this stadium.

I think Middlesbrough could take the win here, but select Middlesbrough double chance for insurance, with 2-1 to the visitors my correct score prediction.
