Draw and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Bochum have drawn two of their last four home league matches while Fortuna Dusseldorf have drawn five of their last nine away league contests, including their last two.  Both teams have scored in seven of Bochum’s last eight home Bundesliga matches and eight of Fortuna Dusseldorf’s last 10 league games on the road, so if this game finishes all square it is unlikely to be goalless.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Although 1-1 would seem to be the likelier outcome, it may be worth covering a 2-2 correct score here as three of Fortuna Dusseldorf’s last five away draws have seen both teams score twice. Bochum also drew 2-2 at home to Darmstadt recently and have conceded multiple goals in six of their last seven home league matches.

Back the draw in Bochum

A closely fought clash is anticipated when Bochum host Fortuna Dusseldorf in part one of the Bundesliga promotion/relegation play-off on Thursday night.

Bochum slipped into 16th spot on the final day of the regular season when their 4-1 defeat at Werder Bremen, coupled with Union Berlin’s 2-1 win over Freiburg meant the two sides swapped places.

Although they are nicknamed the Undescendables, Bochum have bounced between the first and second flight several times in the last 25 years and they lost out on promotion via the play-off in 2011.

Both teams can score in play-off clash

Fortuna Dusseldorf are one of only three lower-tier sides to have won their place in the top-flight via this game since it was reintroduced 15 years ago and their current sports director was part of that team.

They arrive in much better form, having lost only one of their last 11 away games – although a considerable number of those fixtures were drawn.

Both clubs are expecting a tight affair at Castropher Strasse and the prospects for a stalemate look good given Bochum have also drawn two of their last four at home. But the respective BTTS stats for the sides are also good enough to add that into the recommended bet of the draw as neither side has had a goalless game since November.
