Bodo Glimt vs Legia Warsaw Predictions
BETTING TIP – BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
CORRECT SCORE PREDICTION – 1-1 DRAW
- Both teams scored in all three of Bodo/Glimt’s Europa League matches last season.
- Legia have kept a clean sheet in the last seven matches and in their last six away games.
Bodo/Glimt make their Champions League debut on Wednesday but the Norwegians could hardly have been pitted against a more awkward opponent as Legia Warsaw arrive in town.
Legia’s Polish title was built on solid defence with Czesław Michniewicz’s side conceding only 24 goals in 30 games.
They finished the campaign with six straight clean sheets, but didn’t rest on their laurels by bringing in two new central defenders and a right-back this summer.
Glimt waited 104 years for their first national title and intend to make a big impression on the greatest stage for clubs even if it is only the first qualifying round.
In the past a first leg like this could have been a cagey affair with Legia looking to keep it tight in order to do the job at home and Bodo/Glimt determined not to concede an away goal – but not any more.
The abolition of the away goals rule means we might see a tactical shift in which neither team comes out with a safety-first attitude and the match gets going as a spectacle much earlier than in the past.
That’s one reason why we like the look of both teams to score in this opening leg.
Bodo/Glimt have scored 22 times in eight Eliteserien home games this season to show they still have the attacking prowess that powered them to the title.
Legia’s European experience should see them escape without defeat, however, and we forecast a 1-1 draw on Wednesday – setting up the second leg to be a potential thriller.
