Bolivia vs Uruguay Predictions

• Uruguay played well in defeat to Argentina, but cannot afford to drop many more points in their remaining qualifiers.

La Celeste have rediscovered their identity

Uruguay dropped out of the qualifying places after their 1-0 defeat to Argentina on Friday, but Oscar Tabarez’s side rediscovered the identity that could get them to Qatar 2022.

La Celeste had many more big chances than their hosts, who relied on the excellence of their central defenders and goalkeeper to secure the result after Angel di Maria’s early effort.

They won’t find Bolivia’s defence quite so sturdy on Tuesday when they go up to La Paz for a must-win clash with La Verde. Bolivia conceded eight in their four home qualifiers prior to keeping back-to-back clean sheets against Peru and Paraguay last month, but on both occasions the visitors had several chances to score.

Uruguay’s record against Bolivia is superb

Uruguay come into this with some worrying expected goals against numbers in qualifying, particularly after they shipped seven in their away losses to Brazil and Argentina last month.

But Friday’s display was much more like it from a defence that was known to be one of the best in the world when Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez were at their peak.

Uruguay have a good record against Bolivia and we like their chances of grinding out the win they need against a team with dwindling qualification hopes. A 1-0 result would be the typical Uruguayan way of doing it.
