Bologna to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals
Reasoning
Bologna vs Cosenza Predictions
- Only three Serie B sides conceded more league goals than Cosenza’s 59 last season – 36 of which came on the road.
- Bologna, meanwhile, have seen five of their last eight matches contain over 2.5 goals, including friendlies.
- The hosts ended last season with a run of just two defeats in their final nine league matches, earning results against Inter, Milan, Roma and Juventus in that time.
- The visitors did not win a single one of their 19 away league games last term.
Bolognese clash to serve up hearty entertainment
Having ended last season with a run of just two defeats from their final nine Serie A games as Sinisa Mihajlovic returned to the dugout following his leukaemia treatment, Bologna are hopeful of an improved campaign in 2022-23, and a home clash with lower-league outfit Cosenza may represent the perfect opportunity for a morale-boosting victory.
Bologna’s fine end to last campaign saw them claim results against each of Milan, Inter, Juventus and Roma, while five of their eight most recent matches have contained over 2.5 goals. Indeed, the goals have continued to flow in Bologna’s pre-season outings, as they fell to a 4-1 defeat at FC Twente after plundering 20 goals in three clashes with lower-league sides, but they should have too much quality for Serie B opponents next time out.
Cosenza conceded 59 goals in their 38 Serie B matches as they narrowly avoided the drop last term. That record was worse than all but three teams in the second tier, while 36 of them were shipped on the road. While Cosenza appointed Davide Dionigi in June, six of his eight previous managerial assignments saw him register a win rate of less than 34 per cent, and the visitors could struggle against Serie A opposition.
Bologna set for morale-boosting win
Given Cosenza’s dire defensive record, as well as the fact they failed to win a single one of their 19 away league games last season, drawing eight and losing 11, backing the hosts to win a game containing over 2.5 goals looks prudent.
Meanwhile, a 3-0 win for the Serie A team looks a decent correct score prediction, with an upset unlikely.
