Bolton vs Bristol City Predictions
Only 1 place separates these two in the league but Bolton in 22nd are 4 points below Bristol City, who are just outside the relegation zone. They have only recorded one win in their opening 15 games, worse than even the two teams below them, but so far the club has opted to stick with manager Neil Lennon, unlike a few of the other struggling sides who have already ditched their managers.
Bristol City’s biggest problem has been inconsistency and it’s always hard to know which Robins side is going to turn up. This week we have already seen the two extremes. On Saturday they conceded 4 times in the first half at home to Fulham in a humiliating defeat. However just 3 days later they were much improved and kept a clean sheet and picked up 3 points via a 1-0 win over Wolves.
Defensive problems have been a major concern for them so far but that Fulham game aside they have been much improved in that area of late. They’ve kept clean sheets in 3 of their last 5 games and if they can put in another defensive performance of that quality they could easily do likewise against a Bolton side that has scored fewer goals than every other side in the division.
There have been two or fewer goals in all of their last 5 matches and it is hard to see this turning into a goalfest either. Despite the poor form of Bolton, Bristol City would probably take a point and another solid defensive showing given it would maintain their 4 point cushion on the drop-zone. Bolton don’t have the quality to really put them to the sword either so backing there to be under 2.5 goals certainly looks good value at 9/10.
This game could end in stalemate as plenty involving Bolton have done this season. They’ve already been involved in four 0-0 draws this term and you can back this to be another one at generous odds of 10/1.
