Bolton vs Cambridge United Predictions
- Bolton have only lost one of their last nine home matches
- Only one of Cambridge’s four away wins came against a team above Bolton in the table
- United have only won away at Bolton once in their history
Wanderers in remarkable form
If Bolton could have strung some consistency together over the first half of this season, they would probably be competing for a play-off position in League One, but currently have to settle for mid-table.
However, their recent form is compelling. They have won three in a row, and smashed Sunderland 6-0 on Saturday, a result that led to the Black Cats sacking manager Lee Johnson.
The Trotters have suffered just three defeats in 13 home league fixtures this campaign and have won five of their last seven at the University of Bolton Stadium, keeping a clean sheet in each victory.
Cambridge struggling on the road
Like Bolton, Cambridge have suffered from a bit of inconsistency this season, especially on the road where they have picked up just 16 of an available 39 points.
Mark Bonner’s side have actually won two of their last four away from home, but both victories came against sides struggling against the drop, Cheltenham and Lincoln.
They have equally lost three of their last six away league games and have registered just one away win at Bolton in their history, way back in 1981.
I think Bolton will back up their recent three wins in a row by picking up another victory in this one, but it may be quite tight, so I select 2-1 as a correct score prediction.
