We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Bolton 1-0 @ 9/1

Reason For Bolton vs Wycombe Predictions

  • Bolton have conceded more than once in just one of their last five league matches at home.
  • Wycombe have failed to score in each of their last six travelling League 1 matches.
  • Wycombe are League 1’s second-lowest scorers away from home this season.

Trotters tough to beat at home

After going two games unbeaten, Bolton made sure to get themselves back on the losing path away at Coventry last week, while they followed up by tasting defeat at Doncaster on Tuesday evening, though their efforts in both of those narrow losses weren’t overly poor, while they remain a side that is tough to get the better of when surrounded by the comforts of home.

On their own patch, Keith Hill’s men can give lots of teams in this division a run for their money, make no mistake about that. The Trotters have lost only two of their last nine home matches, and those defeats were by only a single goal. Saturday’s hosts have also often done a good job of halting top teams at home, as draws against Coventry, Oxford and Sunderland suggest. The fact that they’ve started to avoid shipping multiple goals bodes well ahead of a game against a Wycombe side that has struggled massively to find the net on the road.

Weak Wycombe

Wycombe remain in the top six, while they continue to be a strong side at Adams Park, though there has been little to like about the way they’ve conducted their business on the road, both of late and in general this season.

The Chairboys have lost each of their last five travelling matches, while they’re without a goal in their last six. Such form is damning.

It is worth noting that three of their last four opponents when playing away are in the top six, though it’s not as if they’ve been excellent against lesser opposition. They were soundly beaten by MK Dons when last in action on the road, while three wins from 14 away games this term tells us that playing away from home in general is not something that Gareth Ainsworth’s men are experts at. Eight goals for in 14 travelling matches is nothing short of abysmal.

Hosts offer value

Bolton won’t have been fancied by many ahead of lots of games this season, though at the prices, they’re not hard to side with ahead of Saturday’s clash. Wycombe’s away form, which is dreadful, is tough to ignore, while it must be said that Bolton are no mugs at home. Moreover, the visitors, who average a measly 0.57 goals for on the road, distinct lack of away-day attacking power makes them easy to oppose, especially at the prices. Betting on the team who’re bottom of the pile won’t be to the taste of everyone, but having avoided defeat against a handful of teams who’re much better away from home than the Chairboys, the hosts, who were successful when last at this venue, appear to be too big in the betting and thus a bet on the home win offers punters some value.
