Bordeaux vs Lorient Betting Tips & Predictions

Bordeaux have had a disappointing season by their standards, but they will at least be hoping to end the season strongly to provide a little bit of a confidence boost in the hope that it will carry through into next season.

They won last time out against bottom of the table Troyes to make it two wins, two draws, and one defeat in their last five matches, a run that has taken them to 12th in the Ligue 1 table. If other results go their way in the final two games of the season and they win their remaining clashes they could finish as highly as 7th, which is  a much more respectable finishing position.

Lorient lost at home to Lille last weekend, but Reims’ defeat to Montpellier kept them seven points behind the 16th placed side, meaning that Lorient are finally mathematically safe from relegation.

This will be a huge weight off their shoulders, but their form is still something to be concerned by. At the most crucial stage of the season they have lost three matches on the trot, and it’s more by good luck than good judgement that they find themselves safe from the drop.

Lorient have only won one of their last nine in all competitions and have lost five times, but maybe their performances will change now that that the hefty wait of potential relegation has been lifted off their shoulders.

If something miraculous happens Lorient could even finish in the top half of the table, such is the tightness of that portion of the Ligue 1 table.

Bordeaux are winless in six home matches coming into this clash, and they have only managed to score three in their last four outings on home turf. Lorient haven’t found the net in three outings, so we could be in for a low scoring match on Saturday.

Lorient haven’t seen a game with Over 2.5 Goals in any of their last four outings, whilst Bordeaux’s last four home matches have seen Under 2.5 Goals three times. This makes odds of 23/20 for Under 2.5 Goals very attractive to me, and I’m backing that alongside a 1-0 win for Bordeaux at 8/1.
