Bordeaux vs Lorient Predictions
We’ve reached the quarter-finals stage of the Coupe de la Ligue and both of Tuesday night’s combatants, Bordeaux and Lorient are definite dark horses. PSG and Lyon are playing one another in the quarter-finals, Marseille are still in the competition, but are very erratic and it’s definitely not impossible to see either of Bordeaux or Lorient reaching the final if their semi-final draw turns out ok. Once you’re in the final, anything can happen.
Bordeaux are unbeaten since December 2 and there are some signs that the club has recovered a little after a hugely disappointing stretch of games that saw them wallowing in the bottom half of Ligue 1 (not totally recovered from that) and knocked out of their Europa League group without making much of an impact.
Meanwhile, Lorient are win-less against Ligue 1 competition since beating Toulouse on December 5. They’ve struggled to close out games, though a pair of draws in their last two games against Rennes and Nantes doesn’t represent a terrible return.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. Bordeaux at home
It’s a Coupe de la Ligue quarter-final and you have to favour the home team in these contests.
2. Re-focused Bordeaux
It wasn’t a particularly good first half of the season for this Bordeaux side, but we’re expecting them to come back re-focused and better prepared to have an impact. This is a real good opportunity for Bordeaux to salvage something from the 2015-16 season.
3. Few players could leave Lorient
Lorient have a few talented young players that have been impressive and will be the subject of transfer rumours over the next week or two, that is a distraction that this team doesn’t know.
