Boreham Wood vs St Albans Predictions
- Boreham Wood have won three of their last four home matches without conceding
- St Albans are on a run of eight cup matches without defeat
- The Wood have not lost in ten games at Meadow Park this season
Wood Tough To Beat
Boreham Wood have a reputation as being a team who are tough to break down and will give opposition attacks nothing to feed off, and they have lived up to that reputation in recent weeks.
Luke Garrard’s side, second in the National League, are unbeaten at Meadow Park this season and have the best defence in the fifth tier, conceding just 13 times in 17 outings.
At the other end, they have been prolific, scoring in each of their last 15 matches. The magic of the FA Cup might throw a spanner in the works, but they are a well drilled team and are expected to win comfortably.
Can St Albans Pull Off Another Shock?
St Albans booked their place in the second round with a giant-killing win over high-flying Forest Green, who play two divisions above them in the pyramid.
Since that game, though, they appear to have lost form, winning just once in four outings and conceding seven goals in the process.
Manager Ian Allinson had two spells as Boreham Wood boss, so will know exactly what to expect from his old employers, but his defence, who have kept just two clean sheets in ten games, will have to be at the top of their game.
I predict that their FA Cup run will come to an end in this tie. Boreham Wood are a difficult team to face, and I suspect St Albans will struggle at both ends, predicting Boreham Wood to win to nil courtesy of a 2-0 scoreline.
