Borussia Dortmund suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Hamburger last weekend, a result which ended their seven match winning streak in all competitions.

They continued the disappointment with a lacklustre performance against Krasnodar in the Europa League on Thursday, coming away on the back of a 1-0 loss.

This result was the first time Dortmund have failed to score this season, ending a run of 23 consecutive matches scored in in all competitions.

To be fair to them, they weren’t playing their full strength squad. Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang, Shinji Kagawa, and Marco Reus all missed out on the game, a trio who have notched 40 goals between them already this season.

Aubemayang is the main threat, netting 22 times so far as he spearheads a fearsome attacking quartet of him, Kagawa, Reus, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

But their defeat last weekend has seen them slip eight points behind Bayern Munich at the top of the table, although they are still five points clear of 3^rd placed Wolfsburg.

Stuttgart began their season with five straight defeats in the Bundesliga, not a fantastic way to begin a campaign.

But they finally managed to pick up a win against Hannover back in September, and since then they have won three, lost four, and draw one of their eight matches in all competitions.

Despite this moderate upturn in form they are still in trouble. They occupy the Bundesliga’s relegation playoff position having collected just ten points from their opening 13 games. A win on Sunday could send them as high as 13^th.

Dortmund are unbeaten against Stuttgart in their last ten meetings, with five of those ending in a win. The visitors have scored 16 goals in their last five matches against Stuttgart, although the underdogs have notched back eight times themselves.

This looks like a return to the usual backing for Borussia Dortmund games. A Borussia Dortmund Win and Over 3.5 Goals comes in at attractive odds of 5/6, so that’s where my money is going.
