Brackley vs Gillingham Predictions
Brackley are proving to be a bit of bogey team for Gillingham. For the third time in as many years, the National League North side have denied Gillingham passage through to the second round of the FA Cup. Just as they did in 2013, Gillingham had to fight back from behind to earn a replay up north, although this time they’ll be hoping that doesn’t see them exit the competition.
From a betting point of view, the way to play this one is to take a chance on the hosts and back ‘Brackley to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ at 13/8. The hosts have scored plenty of goals at home recently and have proven that they’re capable of getting at this weak-looking Gillingham defence.
Defending has been a real problem for Gillingham this season and they are yet to keep a clean sheet away from home in League One. These problems became glaringly obvious in the initial tie between these two last weekend and it would be no surprise, now back on their own patch, if Brackley caused the visitors plenty of problems once again.
The hosts’ last five matches in front of their own fans have seen them score no fewer than 12 goals, scoring two or more in four of those. On top of this, they come into this match full of confidence have scored three goals in their away win over Boston at the weekend.
Additionally, Brackley forward Steve Diggin has been in sensational form at home recently, and, with six goals to his name in his last three matches in front of a home crowd, is definitely worth backing to net again against this dodgy Gillingham back-line.
