Bragantino vs Fluminense Predictions
- RB Bragantino have won eight of their last 13 home league matches.
- Three of the last five Fluminense away Serie A games have featured fewer than three goals.
Returning Massa Bruta mainstays to tip the balance
RB Bragantino will be looking for revenge when they face Fluminense for the third time in eleven days, this time in Brazil’s Serie A, on Sunday.
Flu came through a close two-legged contest 3-2 on aggregate, despite losing Wednesday’s game in Sao Paulo 2-1.
But the hosts will be boosted by the return of two key players for the league game with goalkeeper Cleiton and midfield playmaker Claudinho available after Brazil Olympic duty.
Without them – and seven others because of injury – Massa Bruta were exposed in the 3-3 draw with Bahia last time out – which is the joint-highest scoring game in Serie A this season.
They are hopeful of seeing two other defensive regulars return for the league visit of Fluminense and should be a lot less generous at the back.
That Bahia match seems to be an outlier as Mauricio Barbieri’s side had conceded only twice in their previous four home games.
Flu drew 0-0 at Sao Paulo in round one before beating Cuiaba at home with their home form looking more impressive.
The returnees should bolster Massa Bruta enough to provoke a home win on Sunday, albeit we think in a low-scoring game.
Take RB Bragantino to win with Under 2.5 goals – as they have done in two of their last four home contests.
Fluminense’s inability to register against a poor Sao Paulo side a fortnight ago makes us think that backing a 2-0 home win in the correct score market may also be ptrofitable.
