Bray Wanderers vs Sligo Rovers Predictions
Bray Wanderers have been a huge disappointment so far this season, having already conceded sixty goals in their twenty-four league games and having only scored fifteen times. Already nine points adrift at the bottom of the table, Bray really need to start picking up more points, especially at home against fellow relegation battlers Sligo Rovers. The visitors could slip into the drop zone if they lose and second from bottom Limerick win, so Sligo have all the motivation they need to claim all three points on Sunday.
When these two teams met back in April a tight and tense ninety minutes ended in Sligo Rovers pinching a 2-1 victory. A great first half showing from the home side saw Sligo go in at the break two goals to the good, with Keaney breaking the deadlock in the thirty-fourth minute. Just six minutes after taking the lead Rovers scored again through Pincelli to go into a commanding lead. Bray Wanderers gave a much better performance in the second half and pulled a goal back through Galvin in the eighty-first minute, but it all came a little too late for the struggling visitors as Sligo held on to confirm their win.
With two wins, two draws, and two defeats from their last six matches, visitors Sligo Rovers claim the title of form favourites. Bray have just one win and one draw from their last six matches, losing the other four games in what has been another disappointing run of form. With neither side playing at their very best right now we’re not expecting this game to be remembered as a classic, in fact we’re predicting under 2.5 goals to be scored. Bray have failed to score in four of their last six matches, while Sligo have drawn a blank in three of theirs, all of which points to a low scoring affair on Sunday. There have been under 2.5 goals scored in four of Sligo’s and two of Bray’s last six matches, so don’t be surprised if this game produces fewer than three goals as well.
Coughlin has scored four goals for Bray Wanderers this season and will provide the hosts chief goal scoring threat on Sunday. Sligo, who have also struggled to score goals this season, have Morgan as their top scorer and he has also netted four times in the Premier Division so far.
We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be scored in this game as both teams have struggled for goals this season, as well as in recent weeks. As far as a final score goes, we can see this game ending up being a being a dull goalless draw, a result that doesn’t really suit either side.
Bray Wanderer’s Predicted Lineup: Moran, Harding, Gorman, Heaney, Lynch, McCabe, Walsh, O’Conor, D. Kelly, J. Kelly, Coughlin.
Sligo Rover’s Predicted Lineup: Beeney, Sharkey, Donelon, McClean, Mahon, Cawley, McAleer, Wixted, Keaney, Moorhouse, Morrison.
