New favourites Brazil can make it two from two

Brazil are the new favourites for the gold medal after a thumping 4-2 victory over Germany in their opener and they should be able to overcome Ivory Coast in their second game on Sunday.

The Selecao were mesmerising at times going forward against Germany, with Richarlison in awesome form as he hit a hat-trick inside the opening 30 minutes.

The South Americans did ease off after going 3-0 ahead and nearly let Germany back into the game as they cut Brazil’s lead to just one goal, despite being reduced to 10 men, but a late Paulinho strike settled the tie.

On paper, the Ivory Coast look a decent team but they struggled to overcome Saudi Arabia in their opener as they claimed a 2-1 win.  Les Elephants were hanging on at the end as the Saudis hit the woodwork late on and had a few other chances to grab a late equaliser.

Brazil made a good Germany team look poor on Thursday and although they looked a little suspect at the back on occasion they should have enough firepower to beat the Ivory Coast with a -1 handicap.  The African outfit do carry a threat themselves and 3-1 has some appeal in the correct score market, while Richarlison is a contender for an anytime goal after his hat-trick heroics against the Germans.
