Brentford vs Leeds Predictions
- Manchester City are the only visiting team to have won at the Gtech this season
- Brentford have scored three goals in four of their last five home matches
- Leeds have lost six of their seven league away games this term
Bees have settled after summer of change
Brentford were highly fancied to struggle this year after forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa left the club along with manager Thomas Frank, but the Bees are holding their own and will be confident that they can beat Leeds on Sunday.
Keith Andrews’s side have to bounce from consecutive away London derby defeats to Arsenal and Tottenham, but their home form remains strong as Manchester City are the only visiting team to beat them this term and a 1-0 victory for the Citizens was not convincing.
The team’s proficiency at set-pieces has proved too hot to handle for many and provided a blueprint for many to follow.
And, as Newcastle, Manchester United and Liverpool have all found out in defeats this term, the Gtech Community Stadium can be a difficult place to go.
Leeds need to get their act together on the road
Even teams who have strong away form have struggled at Brentford and that is a warning for Leeds, despite the fact they have boosted their confidence with a win over Chelsea and a 3-3 draw with Liverpool, when they claimed an injury-time equaliser.
Those results lifted the Whites out of the relegation zone, but they need to get more out of their away performances if they are to stay there as their victory over bottom-of-the-table Wolves has been the only road match in which they have earned anything since promotion.
Daniel Farke’s side could find the net, but it looks unlikely they will do enough to win, so expect the Bees to come out on top.
Home victories over Newcastle, Manchester United and Burnley were all by a 3-1 scoreline so it is worth chancing that this may be another if you are looking for a correct-score interest.
Thiago has stepped up to the plate
Brentford’s striking issues have been eased greatly by Igor Thiago, who has become a fundamental part of the furniture in Andrews’s side.
The Brazilian has scored 11 league goals this season, scoring five in his last three league matches and also a brace in the 3-1 win over Manchester United in September.
Five of his goals have been penalties and the opportunities should be there for him to add to his decent tally.
