Tip Reasoning

Brighton returned to winning ways on Saturday with a convincing 4-1 win over Burton. Although they’ve not looked quite as strong at the back in recent weeks, their goal threat has if anything increased and they should pose Ipswich enough problems here to score at least a couple of goals.

After a rare bad week, in which Brighton conceded 3 goals on 3 separate occasions, it was important they did pick up that result and it should have helped to settle some nerves. Their prior problems though did all come on the road and at the Amex you’d back them to have the beating of just about anyone in this league. The Seagulls have won 80% of their home league games this term for an average of 2.53 points per home game, the best record in the division.

They’ve scored at least once in 93% of their home games and average an excellent 2.13 goals per game in front of their own fans. Glenn Murray has been their main weapon with 16 goals but there is genuine competition up top. The form of Tomer Hemed has given Chris Hughton one or two things to think about. The Israeli has scored in all of his last 4 league appearances and netted a brace against the Brewers on Saturday before being rested, presumably with this game in mind. In that sort of form backing Hemed to score anytime at 8/5 certainly looks to offer value.

With Brighton looking a real threat up front this could be a long evening for Ipswich’s defence. They put in a big effort to secure a somewhat fortunate 1-0 win at Villa Park on Saturday but it may be too much to ask to expect them to hold firm again here, particularly with the game coming around so soon. Ipswich hadn’t kept a clean sheet in 14 games prior to that in all competitions and they’ve been found severely wanting at the back at times when up against the top teams in the league.

They started the season quite well defensively but injuries have hampered them to a large extent and it’s hard to see how they are going to keep Brighton quiet here. Therefore, backing Brighton Over 1.5 Team Goals at 4/5 looks to offer value.
