Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both teams to score looks a reasonable option for our main bet as Newcastle have only failed to score in two of their last nine games, against Man City and Liverpool, and they scored in five of their six pre-season games. Both teams have scored in each of Brighton’s last three games and they have scored in their last six, so we’re expecting both teams to find a way through.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Both of these teams have been incredibly tough to beat of late and that may lead to the two sides cancelling each other out and sharing the spoils.  A 1-1 draw appeals as Brighton have conceded exactly one goal in each of their last three games and Newcastle have conceded eight in total across their last nine games.

Brighton vs Newcastle Predictions

  • Newcastle have only failed to score in two of their last nine games, against Man City and Liverpool, and they scored in five of their six pre-season games.
  • Both teams have scored in each of Brighton’s last three games.
  • Brighton are unbeaten in six games and Newcastle have just two defeats in their last nine.

Ambitious duo meet at the Amex

Brighton kicked off the new season with an eye-catching win over Manchester United at Old Trafford and they face another big test on Saturday when they entertain Newcastle at the Amex.

The Magpies claimed a 2-0 win over promoted Nottingham Forest at home in their curtain raiser and probably could have won by a bigger margin.

Both of these sides will feel they can challenge for the European spots this season and Saturday’s clash on the south coast should be an entertaining affair.

Home form an issue for Seagulls

Brighton finished last season in ninth spot in the table last term but they only had the 16th best home record. Boss Graham Potter will know they have to improve at home if they are to improve on last season’s performance, but beating this in-form Newcastle side looks a big ask.

The visitors’ win over Forest means they have now won seven of their last nine Premier League games and their only league losses since the turn of the year have come against last season’s top four and, somewhat surprisingly, Everton.

Goals markets a good starting point

Albion picked up just 22 points in 19 home games last season but they only lost seven of those games, so this one could well finish honours even.

Both teams to score looks a reasonable option for our main bet as Newcastle have only failed to score in two of their last nine games, against Man City and Liverpool, and they scored in five of their six pre-season games.

Both teams have scored in each of Brighton’s last three games and they have scored in their last six, so I’m expecting both teams to find a way through.

I may be anticipating both teams scoring, but this might not be a high-scoring affair and a 1-1 draw looks a reasonable option as a correct score bet. Brighton have conceded exactly one goal in each of their last three games and Newcastle have conceded eight in total across their last nine games.
