Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Six of Torino’s last eight competitive matches have contained over 2.5 goals, as have eight of the last 10 to feature Lazio. Meanwhile, the Biancocelesti saw a total of 68 goals scored in their 19 away Serie A matches last season.

Lazio 2-1

Reason for tip

Lazio are unbeaten in their last six head-to-head meetings with Torino, and their tally of 35 goals on the road in Serie A last term was bettered by just four sides. Only Inter, meanwhile, scored more than the 77 goals plundered by Maurizio Sarri’s men.

Torino vs Lazio Predictions

  • Torino have seen over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last eight competitive matches.
  • Eight of the last 10 competitive games played by Lazio, meanwhile, have contained at least three goals.
  • There were 68 goals scored in the 19 Serie A away games played by Lazio last term.

Biancocelesti start well

Despite being reduced to 10 men just six minutes into the new season, Lazio came from behind to clinch a 2-1 win over Bologna – who were also hit by a red card on the stroke of half-time – as Maurizio Sarri began his second season in Rome strongly. A trip to Torino, however, represents a difficult proposition on the second weekend of the Serie A campaign, though punters should expect to be entertained.

Indeed, Lazio’s 19 away Serie A games last term contained a total of 68 goals – an average of 3.58 goals per game. However, the Biancocelesti did suffer seven defeats on the road last season, and failed to beat Torino in the duo’s two meetings. Eight of the last 10 competitive matches played by Lazio have contained over 2.5 goals, and a side which scored 77 league goals last season (second only to Inter with 84) will be confident of hitting the net in Turin.

Although Ivan Juric’s Torino endured a troubled pre-season, they claimed a 2-1 win at newly promoted Monza to begin the campaign, and returning to the Stadio Olimpico Grande, where they claimed 58 per cent of their points last season, will be welcome. However, Il Toro have seen over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last eight matches, and the departure of Gleison Bremer looks likely to further hit a defence which has shipped 11 goals in their last eight outings.

Over 2.5 goals expected in Turin

While Lazio begin this contest as favourites as they look to trouble the top four this season, Torino’s strong home record, as well as the entertainment provided by both sides’ recent contests, means backing over 2.5 goals looks a strong play.

Meanwhile, Lazio are unbeaten in their last six head-to-head meetings with Torino, and can extend that run with a 2-1 win on Saturday.
