Brighton vs Notts Forest Predictions
The Seagulls finished a disappointing 20th last season but much greater things are expected this term. In Chris Hughton they have a manager who knows the division and will have relished the chance to have had a first pre-season at the club having joined midway through the last campaign.
They picked up just 2 points from their final 7 games last year, narrowly avoiding the plummet into League One but the pre-season matches have suggested improvements have been made and they beat Europa League winners Sevilla in their most recent friendly.
Forest meanwhile have had a tough pre-season schedule and held Premier League Swansea and Aston Villa to draws in their most recent matches. The last was a 3-3 draw with Villa in an entertaining game which the Championship side had marginally the better of.
Like Brighton, they were awful at the end of last season, picking up just 2 points from their final 8 games and also suffered a horrible slump mid-season which led to the dismissal of club legend Stuart Pearce.
Either side of that slump Forest were very impressive so it was an odd season in many respects and they will be hoping to be consistent for longer periods this time out with Dougie Freedman in charge.
It is hard to know where these two sides are at right now but both will be optimistic of a better season this time out. The bookies suggest a mid-table finish is what both clubs have to look forward to but neither manager will be ruling out a play-off push especially before a ball has been kicked.
This could be an open game and we should see far more fluency from both sides than the nervy way they ended last season. It’s hard to pick a winner here but both sides like to play football and it should be open so we ought to see both clubs score in the game and you can back that to be the case at 5/6.
