Brisbane Roar vs Central Coast Mariners Predictions

Brisbane Roar managed to break out of their three match winless streak on Saturday when they secured a comfortable 3-1 victory at Sydney FC.

This win makes it two wins, two defeats, and one draw in Brisbane Roar’s last five outings, but before their three match winless streak they had won four on the trot.

Their win on Saturday allowed them to keep pace with Hyundai A-League leaders Western Sydney Wanderers. But they remain in 2nd position with a two point gap to make up on the leaders. Below them, Melbourne City are three points adrift of them in 3rd with the rest of the top six hot on their tails.

Central Coast Mariners are in no position to be challenging for the top spot though. They are propping up the table in 10th position after collecting just 12 points from their opening 17 A-League matches.

They are four points off 9th place Newcastle Jets and are looking like a team who will really struggle to end the season away from the bottom of the table.

However, Central Coast Mariners did manage to get a win on Saturday when they beat fellow strugglers Wellington Phoenix away from home. This was their first Hyundai A-League win since April 2014.

This win gives the struggling side the same record as the hosts, with two wins, two defeats, and a draw in their last five matches.

Central Coast Mariners previous record isn’t quite as impressive as Brisbane Roar’s though. They had lost six matches in a row and hadn’t won since their first match of the season.

Brisbane Roar have won their last five matches against Central Coast Mariners and haven’t lost since 2014. Coincidentally, this win for Central Coast in 2014 was their last away win in the A-League before their weekend triumph.

I can’t see anything but a home victory on Saturday though, and I think Brisbane Roar will get a comfortable win. Odds of 1.850 for a Brisbane Roar -1.0, -1.5 Asian Handicap Win look good value to me too, so I’m going for that and a 3-1 correct score prediction at 9/1.
