Coventry can grind out another away win

Coventry look set to extend Bristol City’s home winless run when they visit Ashton Gate on Saturday. Gerhard Struber’s side have not won at home in the Championship for three games, while Coventry have won their last two on the road.

Coventry are top of the league, having won 21 of their 35 games this season, while Bristol City are tenth with 14 wins, eight draws and 13 defeats. Coventry finished last season with 69 points and Bristol City had 68.

Coventry maintained their winning habit last weekend, beating Stoke 2-1 to make it 13 wins in the 20 matches in which they have been odds-on this season. Haji Wright opened the scoring in the 12th minute and they restricted Stoke to one shot on target.

Bristol City have been unable to keep their opponents at bay in six straight Championship games, conceding 24 goals at home this season – an average of 1.33 goals per game from 18 matches.

No team has more Championship goals this season than Coventry’s 72 in 35 games, and they have scored in 14 of their last 16 league matches. They have been in prolific form recently, netting three times in a 3-1 win over Middlesbrough two weeks ago.

There’s a lot to like about Coventry’s current form. They are going for a fifth successive win and have only lost one of their last ten Championship head-to-heads with Bristol City.

Coventry can edge this, with a 1-0 correct score in favour of the visitors looking like a decent bet. Six of the last seven Championship meetings between these sides have gone under 2.5 goals and Coventry were 1-0 winners last time they met in the league.
