Bristol City vs Ipswich Predictions
Lee Johnson takes charge of Bristol City for the first time here and he’ll be hoping to get a reaction from his new players. He is sure to get a positive reaction from the crowd, which could play a big part in Bristol City’s survival bid, given he spent 5 years at the club as a player making nearly 200 appearances.
He also has the rare luxury of taking over a side with a bit of confidence given they have performed well in recent weeks under caretaker management. Bristol City picked up a crucial 1-0 win at fellow strugglers Charlton last weekend and have looked much improved defensively since the departure of Steve Cotterill. They are 3 points above the drop-zone now and could give themselves a bit of a cushion with another win here.
It might not be a bad time to be playing Ipswich either. The Tractor Boys have won just 1 of their last 5 matches and have lost 3 of their last 4. Their play-off push is faltering a little bit especially with Sheffield Wednesday looking very strong.
They’ve only scored once in their 4 away games so far in 2016 and that came in defeat at League 2 Portsmouth in the FA Cup. Therefore Bristol City look the more likely victors here and are good value at 8/11 in the ‘draw no bet’ market which offers some security given they do draw quite a lot of matches.
All of Bristol City’s last 5 games have finished either 0-0 or 1-0 and this could be another tight game with both sides struggling a bit for goals right now. Bristol City have grabbed a few good results against the sides at the right end of the league this season and this could be another one so consider backing the hosts to win 1-0 at 13/2.
