Bristol City vs MK Dons Predictions

These clubs will be very familiar with each other having fought for long periods last season in the League 1 title race which Bristol City ultimately won but both clubs received plenty of plaudits for their attacking brand of football that produced goals galore. The question for both was always going to be could they convert their entertaining and successful brand of football in League 1 into something similar in the Championship.

The answer so far at least has been a resounding no. The top two in the 3rd tier last season are currently the bottom two in the 2nd tier this and if anything they have got worse as the season has progressed.

That is certainly true of MK Dons who made a fairly bright start but have been exceptionally poor in recent weeks. They come into this game on the back of 6 straight defeats and they’ve conceded twice or more in all of those games.

Bristol City though can hardly brag about their defensive record given they have the worst in the league having shipped 19 goals so far. Although they are bottom they have been a little unfortunate in some games and may have reason to feel their points tally doesn’t truly reflect the quality of some of their performances.

They came close to an excellent win at Ipswich last time out but as has often been the way they conceded a late goal and had to settle for a point. Of the two sides in action here, certainly Bristol City have shown more signs of late they can halt their poor run of results and against an MK Dons team whose confidence must be at rock bottom, they won’t get a better chance to pick up their first home win of the new campaign.

They are fairly strong favourites to clinch that here but if you want bigger returns then surely it is worth taking a calculated risk and backing Bristol City to win and both teams to score at 13/5. The Ashton Gate club don’t do things the easy way and having conceded twice or more in all of their home games so far, you just don’t feel confident about their chances of keeping a clean sheet against anyone in this league.

MK Dons haven’t been anywhere near as prolific this term as they were last though and are certainly missing England new-boy Dele Alli. They haven’t scored more than once since the opening day so consider backing Bristol City to win 2-1 at 15/2.
