      Bristol City vs Preston Predictions

Bristol City were the Champions of League 1 last season while Preston came up via the play-offs but it is the Lancashire club who have found life easier in the higher tier. Preston have 10 more points than Bristol City at this stage in the season and given the Robins currently occupy the highest of the slots in the relegation zone, that is their margin on the bottom three.

It is a nice buffer to have and they have won their last two Championship matches at home to Rotherham and Hull but on the road have found life quite difficult in recent weeks. They were knocked out of the FA Cup by League 1 side Peterborough on Saturday and have also lost their last two away games in the Championship with defeats coming at both Leeds and Huddersfield, two other bottom half sides, over the festive period.

Preston have looked a bit shakier at the back in their last few matches after a long run in which they were hardly conceding any goals at all. That will be something Bristol City may look to capitalise on and they were outstanding at the weekend, when a last minute goal denied them victory at Premier League West Brom in the FA Cup.

They’d lost their two league games prior to that though but they were both away from home and they have at least become tougher to beat at Ashton Gate, where they have lost only 1 of their last 5.

They should therefore be able to head into this game with some belief and it’s hard to see them losing given Preston don’t score that many goals and have struggled on the road of late. At 8/11 you can back Bristol City to win in the ‘draw no bet’ market which could be the smart move in this one.

It’s likely to be a close game but the Robins are capable of just getting over the line if they can repeat their performance at the Hawthorns and at 9/1 you can back them to win 2-1.
