Bristol Rovers vs Dagenham & Redbridge Predictions
Ask any Bristol Rovers fan where he thought the club would be following relegation in 2014 and not even the most optimistic fan would have predicted that Rovers would be in the running for automatic promotion to League One going into the final game of the season. Darrell Clarke’s men need a victory against already relegated Dagenham & Redbridge in order to give themselves a chance as they are three points off Accrington Stanley and a point off Oxford, although the Yellow’s have a much superior goal difference. Last weeks impressive 4-1 victory over bottom placed York City ensured that Rovers will take it to the final day, but they will have to warn against complacency against a side that sprung a suprise versus Plymouth Argyle a few weeks ago.
Dagenham boss John Still will no doubt use the story of Saturday’s opponents when talking about his hopes for next season. The Daggers have already been relegated after spending nine seasons in the Football League. With their fate already decided it is probably frustrating to Dagenham fans that the team has started to play well and get some victories. Last weeks impressive 3-0 victory came on the back of the shock win over promotion hopefuls Plymouth Argyle.
Rovers are so strong at home and will go into the game knowing that only a victory will do. They will be keen to get out of the blocks quickly and although they score 71% of their goals in the second half I think they will still have the lead at half time. Dagenham’s fate is already decided, they are just playing for pride so I doubt they will have quality or the hunger to defeat one of the form teams of the division.
