Ali Al Hamadi To Score Anytime

      Reason for tip

Ipswich had to dig deep to earn a point at Birmingham in their Championship opener but they should find things easier against League Two Bromley, even if they do rotate. Ali Al-Hamadi should start ahead of George Hirst and new signing Chuba Akpom and he netted 13 goals in his last season in the fourth tier, making him the standout scorer pick.

      Ipswich 2-0

      Reason for tip

Ipswich have an extremely deep squad and even a rotated side should see off their fourth-tier hosts. That being said, Bromley are yet to concede a goal this season and they should hold their own against the Tractor Boys, whose only shot on target against Birmingham came from the penalty spot.

      Bromley vs Ipswich Predictions

      • Ipswich are without a win in nine matches
      • Bromley are on a six-match unbeaten run and are yet to concede this season
      • Ali Al-Hamadi averaged a goal every 53 minutes in pre-season

Rotated Tractor Boys bound to progress

Championship title favourites Ipswich would have liked to open their season with a win but, given the money Birmingham have spent over the past two summers, coming away from a cauldron-like St Andrews with a point will be seen as a positive result.

George Hirst’s late penalty was enough to secure the point, but the Scottish forward could be one of many Tractor Boys stars to lose their spot for Tuesday’s League Cup first-round tie at Bromley.

Kieran McKenna’s focus will undoubtedly be an immediate return to the Premier League and a rotated Ipswich XI should take to the field at Hayes Lane.

      Al-Hamadi should take his chance

That could open the door for Bromley to pull off an upset and extend their unbeaten run to seven matches, although that would be more likely if they hadn’t drawn the side with the deepest squad in the Championship.

New signing Chuba Akpom may only be ready to be on the bench but McKenna can still bring in Nathan Broadhead, Conor Chaplin and Ali Al-Hamadi to bolster the attack and the latter is fancied to get on the scoresheet in Greater London.

Al-Hamadi has often struggled for form in the top two divisions but he scored three in four friendlies this summer and 13 in 23 for Wimbledon during his last half-season in League Two, suggesting this clash with fourth-tier opposition is the perfect opportunity for him to bag a first of the campaign.
