Another win and clean sheet beckons for the Azzurri

Italy made a confident start to their Group C campaign with a 2-0 victory over Northern Ireland in Parma on Thursday evening and Roberto Mancini’s men should follow up without fuss away to Bulgaria this weekend.

The Italians are building a head of steam after easily qualifying for Euro 2020 and topping their Nations League section towards the end of last year and are unlikely to face any real threat on the road to Qatar 2022.

Thursday’s success made it four wins and four shut-outs on the spin for The Azzurri and Mancini’s side have now maintained clean sheets in all but one of their last eight internationals.

Those starts came against sides far superior to Bulgaria, who were easily beaten 1-3 here by the Swiss in midweek.
