Burnley vs Crystal Palace Predictions
- Burnley have lost nine of their opening 13 Premier League games
- Crystal Palace have lost just one of their last 17 matches against promoted Premier League teams
- The visitors have ten clean sheets in their last 19 away games in the league
- Ismaila Sarr has eight goals in all competitions this season
Eagles need to bounce back
Back-to-back defeats against Strasbourg and Manchester United have dampened the mood around Selhurst Park but Crystal Palace are fancied to get back to winning ways when they visit Burnley tomorrow.
The Eagles remain in the top half of the Premier League table despite losing 2-1 to the Red Devils on Sunday, after which manager Oliver Glasner was critical of Palace’s summer recruitment.
Their squad is being stretched by a first ever European campaign but it is not all doom and gloom for the FA Cup winners.
Before their two defeats they had won four of their last five games, getting the better of Liverpool, Brentford and AZ Alkmaar in that run.
Despite any tension about transfers which may remain behind the scenes, Glasner’s side have only lost three league games, which is a tally on league leaders Arsenal can better.
Palace also have the second-best defensive record in the division behind the Gunners, having conceded just 11 times in 13 matches.
Clarets struggling
They travel to face a Burnley side who have lost nine of their 13 outings on return to the top flight and have now suffered four defeats on the spin.
Scott Parker’s side have an expected goals difference of -18.6, which puts them comfortably bottom of the table, some ten worse than West Ham in 19th.
The Clarets have taken the fewest shots (103) and conceded the most (217) while they also rank last in possession at 40 per cent.
Burnley managed to hold Brentford scoreless for 80 minutes of their weekend meeting before a wild last ten minutes saw the eventual final score a 3-1 victory for the Bees.
It’s difficult to see many positives for Parker’s side, who are as short as 1-10 for the drop this season.
Clarets to fall short again
Crystal Palace have been particularly ruthless against promoted teams in recent years, losing just one of their last 17 games against such sides, and they look unlikely to fall to defeat at Turf Moor.
The Eagles have already won three away games in the league and should be able to add to that tally against a Burnley team who are statistically the worst side in the division.
Considering the Eagles’ rock-solid defence this season, a comfortable victory could well be on the cards for the visitors.
Three of Palace’s wins this season have been by a 2-0 scoreline and a repeat of that looks likely.
