Netherlands to Win

Reason for tip

The Dutch have won 12 of their last 13 home qualifiers, picking up a 3-0 victory over Gibraltar in March. Ronald Koeman is looking to follow up an incredibly successful spell as Dutch boss and he should see off a side which lost 1-0 to France in June.

Netherlands 1-0

Reason for tip

Greece lost 1-0 to France earlier this year and they’ve conceded no more than once in any of their first four games in this group. The visitors have lost by a single goal in three of their last five away games, while three of their last four away defeats have finished 1-0.

Netherlands vs Greece Predictions

  • Greece lost 1-0 to France earlier this year
  • The hosts have only played one home game under Koeman, a 3-0 win over Gibraltar
  • The hosts have won 12 of their last 13 home qualifiers

Dutch getting left behind

The Netherlands have been dealt a harsh schedule in 2023, which has left them fourth in their qualifying group as we head into September’s fixtures. The Dutch were busy with the Nations League finals in June, while they returned from World Cup action with a difficult clash against France in Paris.

The Dutch lost away to the World Cup runners-up but they saw off Gibraltar 3-0 days later. With just two games played, they trail Greece by three points, something they’ll hope to correct on Thursday night.

Greece unlikely to cause surprise

The visitors have done well early on and they look the most likely challengers to Netherlands and France in this group. However, they went to Paris in June and put in a solid shift only to lose 1-0 having not offered a lot.

Expect a similar display from Greece in this clash, one which is likely to fall short again. Koeman’s Dutch have plenty of attacking intent and they scored twice against both Croatia and Italy in the Nations League over the summer. Back them to break through against Greece, but with the visitors likely to play it safe it could be a 1-0 success for the hosts.
