CA Tigre vs Boca Juniors Predictions
Saturday’s Copa de la Superliga final sees Tigre doing battle with Boca Juniors at the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Cordoba. Tigre will be looking to cause a big upset and lift the trophy.
Despite putting in an excellent campaign and ending the Superliga Argentina in 9th place, Tigre still couldn’t avoid the drop and will play B Nacional football next season. Victims of Argentina’s ridiculous average points table system, which relegates teams based on their performances over 3 seasons, this current Tigre team have done themselves proud and will be looking to sign off the campaign in style by lifting the Copa de la Superliga trophy, which would also bring Copa Libertadores football.
Indeed, Tigre’s plight has now seen the average points rule scrapped, but that will be no consolation for the side, who will still fall through the relegation trapdoor. Instead, Los Matadores will instead be gunning for title to try and gain some form of vindication for their efforts this season and having already seen off Colon, Union, Superliga champions Racing and Atletico Tucuman, it’s clear the side are highly motivated to sign off on a high note in what could well be their last game together as a collective unit.
Meanwhile, Boca haven’t had a great season by their standards, losing the Copa Libertadores final to arch rivals River Plate and also losing their grip over the domestic crown, finishing 3rd, some 6 points behind eventual winners Racing. Gustavo Alfaro has steadied the ship since coming in at the start of the year, but the side are hardly playing the most convincing of football.
Indeed, Boca are rather fortunate to even be at this final and their recent performances don’t have them arriving with much momentum. In the quarter finals against Velez Sarsfield they were beneficiaries of some very questionable officiating to say the least, advancing on penalties, whilst they were only able to edge past Argentinos Juniors 1-0 over two legs and have now scored just 1 goal over their last 4 outings.
Ultimately, although Boca are fancied by most to win the match and are the stronger of the two on paper, they aren’t really playing in a manner that would suggest they are worthy of their favourites tag and there’s no doubting Tigre can give them a run for their money.
All things considered, with the price on Tigre so high, backing them on the Draw No Bet line looks a fantastic way to play as far as the betting is concerned. They’ve won 6 of their last 9 games whilst scoring an average of 2.11 goals a game in the process and we think they could edge this game, with a 2-1 margin of victory on the cards.
