Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Cadiz saw under 2.5 goals in 13 of their 19 home games last term and they’ve lost winger Theo Bongonda who was a key attacking player for them. With Alaves scored barely over a goal per game in the second tier last term, expect a low-scoring contest.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Alaves have drawn six of their last eight competitive games and they head to a Cadiz side who conceded just once across their final three home games of last term, so back these two blunt sides to play out a draw.

Cadiz vs Alaves Predictions

  • Under 2.5 goals landed in 13 of Cadiz’s 19 home league games last season
  • Cadiz scored only 30 goals in 38 games last season
  • Alaves netted only 47 goals in 42 games in the Segunda Division last term

Both sides expected to struggle

The relegation betting suggests Cadiz and Alavez are two sides expected to struggle in La Liga this season and that could contribute to a nervy start to proceedings at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.

Cadiz finished 14th in La Liga last term but they were only two points clear of the relegation spots, while Alaves were promoted via the playoffs from the Segunda Division having finished fourth during the regular season.

Cadiz’s problem was their lack of firepower as they netted only 30 goals in 38 games, the joint-worst scoring record alongside rock-bottom Elche.

That has to improve if they want to avoid the drop again and losing the creative talents of Theo Bongonda to Spartak Moscow won’t aid their cause.

Goals may be hard to come by

Newly-promoted Alaves also have a point to prove in forward areas as they managed only 47 goals in 42 games in a weaker division last season.

It was an immediate return to the top-flight Luis Garcia’s side but they will have bad memories of the 2021-2022 campaign, when they finished bottom with 31 points and scored only 31 goals.

During that campaign, Alaves and Cadiz won one meeting apiece but, unsurprisingly, under 2.5 goals landed on each occasion.

Under 2.5 goals landed in 13 of Cadiz’s 19 home league games last season and both teams scored in only six of those matches, so expect a low-scoring showdown.

Cadiz shared the spoils in six of those 19 outings, so a 1-1 draw could be the way to go for correct-score punters.
