      Under 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

A low-scoring match is expected between relegated Cambridge and champions Birmingham. Cambridge have lost form, while Birmingham’s strong away defence has kept goals down. With little riding on the game and both teams unlikely to push aggressively, under 2.5 goals appears a solid prediction.

      Birmingham 1-0

      Reason for tip

A 1-0 win for Birmingham fits the pattern. Cambridge have lost narrowly 16 times this season, and Birmingham’s away games tend to be tight. With the title and promotion already secured, Birmingham may not press for more but are likely to do enough to claim a slim victory.

      Cambridge United vs Birmingham Predictions

Birmingham to sign off with a victory

Saturday’s League One clash between Cambridge United and Birmingham at the Abbey Stadium is unlikely to produce many goals in a game between two teams closing out vastly different campaigns.

Cambridge have been relegated and face a big-spending Birmingham side who have been crowned champions after winning the league by a mile thanks to their record-breaking tally of 108 points with this last match to play.

These are tough times for Cambridge United, with three of their last four League One matches ending in defeat. They have been beaten in their last two home games, but Birmingham are going for a fifth successive win and beat Blackpool 2-0 on Wednesday.

Birmingham have been impressive defensively away from home this season, conceding just 19 goals – an average of 0.86 per game from 22 matches.

A 1-0 away win for Birmingham looks like a decent correct-score bet. Cambridge United have lost four of their last six League One home games and have gone down by a single goal 16 times in the league this season.

City have wrapped up promotion, the title and the points record and might not be in the mood to land a wide-margin victory but have the quality to take maximum points.
