Canada vs Costa Rica Predictions

Home comforts for Canada

Canada are coming off the back of an impressive win over Panama last time out and will hope to repeat that when they take on Costa Rica at the Commonwealth Stadium for their CONCACAF World Cup qualifier on Saturday. They also boast an exceptional home record, not tasting defeat in any of their last 21 matches in all competitions – last losing a game on home soil way back in March 2016. Their result against Panama also showed their personality, as they went a goal behind in the fifth minute, only to turn it around and claim a 4-1 win. Costa Rica won’t have the same confidence in their away form, however.

Luis Fernando Suarez’s team currently sit fifth in the table with six points from six games and are two points behind Panama. Their form has been incredibly inconsistent and it’s seen them win just one of their last eight games across all competitions. Of those eight games, they’ve also failed to score in five. To make things seem even more difficult for the visitors, they have failed to win any of their previous three meetings with Canada.

Canada to claim the spoils

Costa Rica doesn’t really have the quality to take the game to the hosts and it’ll be their defensive work that dictates the result. Canada are exceptional on home soil and we’re expecting away day blues to hit the visitors once again in a tight match – a one-nil win for Canada would not be a surprise.
