Cardiff vs Fulham Predictions

9 points and 9 places separate Cardiff and Fulham in the Championship table, with the Londoners enjoying much the better season but Cardiff have improved enough in recent months to suggest this will be a close game, particularly given they have home advantage.

Their home form has improved dramatically since Neil Warnock took charge. Having lost 4 out of 5 in South Wales previously, Cardiff have won 4 of their 8 home matches under him, losing just twice. Improvements have taken place at both ends of the pitch but overall the Bluebirds are still struggling for clean sheets. Both teams have scored 58% of their Championship games this season and Cardiff have only shut the opposition out in 12% of their games which clearly is a concern and suggests a free-scoring Fulham side will net at least once here.

A play-off push will be the priority for the Cottagers but they are also being hampered slightly by a not entirely convincing defence. Fulham’s recent games have produced some cracking matches though and they’ve been scoring more than they’ve been conceding in general. There have been over 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 7 games and 6 of their last 14 have featured 4 or more goals. They are currently trying to hang on to striker Chris Martin who has been a big part of their attacking threat, with parent club Derby hoping to recall him but the likes of Johansen, Ayite and Lucas Piazon are also dangers and should cause problems for this Cardiff defence.

Neither side will really want a replay, particularly given they both had games postponed over the festive period which will have to be rearranged. That should lead to both sides playing positively and trying to book a place in Round 4. It has the potential to be an end-to-end game with goals at both ends and backing Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score at Evens looks a decent bet here.
