Predictions & Tips

Cardiff to Win @ 21/20

We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Cardiff 2-0 @ 17/2

Reason For Cardiff vs Wigan Predictions

  • Wigan have won only 3 of their last 37 Championship away days.
  • The Latics have been beaten in 10 of their last 16 away games in the league.
  • The Bluebirds have won 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Only 4 teams have a better home record than Cardiff this term.

Wigan Remain in Danger

Wigan head to the Welsh capital this weekend with hope of making their way to safety. The Latics were able to win their last away clash away to Leeds, but can they step up when they visit one of the toughest grounds in the division?

Cardiff head into this clash on form and impressing at home, which makes Wigan appear to be bigger outsiders than the bookies believe.

Missed Opportunity for Latics?

As they head out on the road again, Wigan’s victory at Leeds is likely to be put forward as a big turning point in their season. However, it was a rare away victory. Across their last 37 away Championship games that was Wigan’s second win at Elland Road, but only their third away win overall.

Wigan seem to have something over Leeds, but that doesn’t stretch to the rest of the division. The Latics head here with just seven wins in 32 matches, while they have lost 10 times in their 16 away trips so far this season.

Brilliant Bluebirds

Meanwhile, Cardiff are in fantastic form. The Welsh side have won three of their last four in the Championship, putting them in the league’s top eight. They sit only four points shy of the top six and just seven shy of automatic promotion.

That’s built on a great return at home, where they have lost once in 15 and claimed eight victories. Only four sides in the division can boast a better home record that Cardiff this season. The Bluebirds should follow that up with a victory on Saturday, having seen Wigan consistently struggle on the road this term.

We’re also going for a 2-0 victory for Cardiff in this one. The hosts have already seen 60% of their home matches this season finish with fewer than three goals, while Wigan have failed to score in nearly half of their trips. The Latics average just 0.8 goals per away game this term, while the Bluebirds have shipped less than a goal per game. As a result, we like the look of a 2-0 home win.
