Strugglers Cardiff looking for rare win

Cardiff had a decent start to the season but their form has taken a serious hit and they have not won any of their last eight games in all competitions. The Bluebirds are also the lowest scorers in the Championship, netting just 20 times in their 26 games this season.

Mark McGuinness’ men do have the second-best defensive record in the bottom half of the second tier but have squandered that with their poor goalscoring record.

Latics need to stem the tide

Wigan have lost four games in a row and conceded 14 goals in the process so need to tighten things up at the back if they are to lift themselves off the bottom of the Championship table. However those four defeats have come against some of the form teams in the division, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Hull City, and so must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Nevertheless, Wigan need to show more if they are to stay up this season and they will look to sit deep and defend in this clash, which looks likely to be a low-scoring affair.
