Carlisle vs Bristol Rovers Predictions
- Both teams have not scored in 11 of the last 15 Carlisle United home league games.
- Both teams have not scored in nine of the last 11 Bristol Rovers matches.
- Both teams have not scored in three of the last four head-to-head meetings between the clubs.
Cumbrians can keep score down against Barton’s in-form boys
Bristol Rovers carry the best form in League Two into Saturday’s clash at Brunton Park, but they are likely to find a Paul Simpson-inspired Carlisle United to be tough opponents.
Joey Barton’s team are currently top of the six, eight and ten-game form tables after a run of eight wins in ten has taken Rovers to the brink of the automatic promotion places. The Gas have taken 12 points from their last four away fixtures with the latest win coming courtesy of Harry Anderson’s first-minute strike at Northampton last weekend.
Rovers have the momentum to push into the top three, but they will be missing on-loan Newcastle United midfielder Elliot Anderson for this because of an international call-up. The young Scot has scored in two of his last three starts and could be a big miss for his manager.
Simpson’s side have achieved some impressive results
Like Barton, Simpson has overseen a superb turnaround in the Cumbrians’ fortunes after taking over for a second time in February. Carlisle have risen from 23rd to 17th in the table on the back of five wins in the last six. Some of the wins have been pretty impressive, such as the 2-1 home victory over Northampton and ending Oldham’s seven-game unbeaten run the week before, so the hosts are not to be taken lightly here at all.
Both teams are solid defensively and that leads us to conclude that both teams to score – no is a better option than any of the three in the match result market. Both teams have not scored in 11 of the last 15 Carlisle United home league games or in nine of the last 11 Bristol Rovers matches overall.
The correct score forecast of a 1-0 away win is maybe a bit harsh on Carlisle, but the Gas are lighting up the division right now and have won by that margin in their last two.
