Celta Vigo vs Atletico Madrid Predictions
Diego Simeone’s men are top of the table as it stands after scoring late goals to win their last two league matches while title rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid have slipped up. Their last two matches have been against the bottom two clubs in the league so it was a bit surprising that they were goalless going into the final 10 minutes of each of them. However late strikes from Antoine Griezmann and Angel Correa at Rayo Vallecano and Thomas Partey at home to Levante last time out have helped cement their position at the top of the table.
Atletico, despite not playing brilliantly or dominating the weaker sides, keep getting results and have only lost 1 of their last 19 matches. This though will be one of their biggest tests in what hasn’t been a terribly difficult run of fixtures.
Celta Vigo are having an excellent season and find themselves in 5th place as we reach the midway mark. They have though lost their last two matches in the league away to Malaga and at home to Athletic Bilbao but had won 5 out of 6 prior to that and grabbed a morale boosting 3-0 win at Cadiz in the Copa del Rey in midweek despite resting some key players as John Guidetti came into the side and bagged a brace.
Atleti were beaten 2-0 at Estadio de Balaídos last season and they will need to up their level a little bit you sense if they are to win this as unlike many of their recent opponents, Celta Vigo will ask them a few questions.
Only Real Madrid and Barcelona have scored more goals than Celta Vigo this term so they have a chance of breaching the league’s meanest defence and at 10/11 the home side look decent value to at least avoid defeat.
Diego Simeone’s men are a really tough side to beat though so a draw is the more likely outcome and you can back it to finish 1-1 at 11/2.
