Celta Vigo vs Espanyol Betting Tips

The Galicians are riding high in 4th place but have only won 1 of their last 4 fixtures so they could do with 3 points here to keep up what could be a surprise challenge for Champions League football next term. They are certainly a bit short on quality and strength in depth to challenge the big three but 4th place in La Liga looks wide open this season and Celta have every chance of competing for it.

Here they come up against an Espanyol side that is predictably in mid-table but has only won 1 of their last 7 matches. They weren’t impressive last time out, drawing 1-1 at home to struggling Levante, a repeat of the scoreline when the sides met in the Copa del Rey just a few days earlier.

Although neither sides are quite at their peak right now we should still see a few goals here and Celta Vigo only really know one way to play and that is to attack. There have been 3 or more goals in 7 of their last 8 home matches in La Liga and there were 4 or more in 5 of those games.

Meanwhile there have been 3 or more goals in 7 of Espanyol’s last 8 away matches in the league so there is plenty of reason to think we’ll see a few goals here. Certainly backing there to be over 2.5 goals in this one at 8/11 looks like a smart move here.

You have to fancy Celta Vigo to get the win though. In the likes of Iago Aspas and Nolito they have more cutting edge and more goals in their team so consider backing this to end in a 3-1 home win at 11/1.
