Hoops to end European campaign with a whimper

Celtic’s season just keeps getting worse. The Bhoys dropped yet more points in their pursuit of a tenth consecutive Scottish Premiership title at the weekend, drawing with St Johnstone to make it five games without a win in all competitions.

On Thursday their European campaign comes to an end as they enter the final round of Europa League group games rock bottom of Group H, an unassailable nine points adrift of the qualifying positions.

Neil Lennon’s side have picked up just one point from their five group games and have shipped some 17 goals in the process. They face a Lille side sitting top of the group, although they need a win to ward off pressure from second placed AC Milan.

We’re expecting the French side to get the win as well. Lille have lost just once in all competitions this season and three of their five group games have ended in victory. They have, however, kept just one clean sheet in these matches, and with Celtic scoring in all five of their group fixtures we like the look of a Lille win and both teams to score bet.

It could be another harrowing evening for the hosts though. They have conceded exactly four goals in each of their last three Europa League games, losing 4-1 on two occasions. Lille flew to a 4-1 win away to Sparta Prague in Europa League matchday one, so we’re opting for that as our correct score prediction.
