Inaugural UEFA Nations League champions Portugal will take top spot in Group A2 if they pick up a fifth successive home win against Spain, moving into the semi-finals in the process.

Fernando Santos’ side have scored in ten successive home games, while both teams have netted in three of the last eight, conceding against the Republic of Ireland, Serbia and Turkey.

They also don’t have a great head-to-head record with Spain, against whom they have kept just one clean sheet in their nine competitive meetings, with both teams netting on six occasions.

Spain trying to bounce back

Spain meanwhile looked destined for the semi-finals until suffering a 2-1 defeat to Switzerland over the weekend, their first loss in nine matches.

That result means the 2021 Nations League runners-up sit in second place, two points behind Portugal, while both teams have scored in three of their five group stage matches.

Luis Enrique’s side have also seen both teams score in six of their eight away matches in the UNL, failing to net just once, a 1-0 defeat to Ukraine.

I predict that both teams will score in this clash, but it is very hard to separate them, so 1-1 is my correct score prediction.
