Central Coast Mariners vs Wellington Phoenix Predictions
Central Coast Mariners are having a dismal season so far. They managed to win their opening day A-League fixture at home to Perth Glory, but since then they haven’t tasted victory at all.
This is well over two months of misery in which they have lost nine of their 12 total matches in the Hyundai A-League. They come into this match having lost their last six matches on the trot. During these six matches they have conceded a huge 16 goals.
This unsurprisingly leaves them rock bottom of the Hyundai A-League table with a measly five points from their 12 league matches so far. They are already seven points adrift of 9th place Perth Glory.
This is looking good for Wellinton Phoenix, and they will be confident of breaking out of their own spell of poor form on Thursday morning.
The visitors have only won one of their last six Hyundai A-League matches and have been on the wrong end of defeat three times.
Two of their last three games have seen them walk away with nothing, and away from home they haven’t won since the middle of October. Four of their six away days since then have seen them lose.
This poor away form has put them in 6th position in the A-League with a total of 15 points from their first 12 games. They are 11 points off the leaders of the pack.
This will be the best chance Wellington Phoenix have had to end their poor away form. They are facing a side who look completely incapable of picking up a win and they even have history on their side.
Central Coast Mariners haven’t beat Wellington Phoenix in any of their last seven meetings, and they’ve been beaten on four occasions during this period.
This makes odds of 7/5 for a Wellington Phoenix Win look really good value for money, so I’m backing that along with a 2-1 Wellington Phoenix win at 17/2.
