Inconsistent Charleroi

A quick glance at Charleroi’s recent form indicates why, despite some talented players, they are no higher than sixth place in the Belgian Pro League.

They have been unable to put together back-to-back wins in all competitions in two months, with a troublesome defence conceding too many goals to allow them to push up the table.

They have kept just two clean sheets in their last six games, but they are scoring plenty of goals too. Indeed, their last seven games have included 25 goals, an average of 3.57 per-game, and I expect more goals in this one.

Leuven’s strong away form

Leuven lost to Kortrijk in their last away game, but that came on the back of a run of three wins and three draws in a six game unbeaten stretch on the road.

Marc Brys’ side have managed to net in each of their last seven away fixtures, with each of those matches containing at least three goals.

In turn, that does highlight their defensive frailties, and they have not kept a clean in 21 matches on their travels, a run that now extends back over a year.

This game will surely see more goals. Both teams are strong in attack and weak in defence, so I predict there will be three or more goals in the match, but it is hard to separate them in terms of a result, so I am selecting 2-2 as a correct score prediction.
