Charlton vs Bristol City Betting Tips

There was nothing to like about how Charlton were playing or the results they were getting heading in to their trip to fellow strugglers Rotherham last weekend. They’d not won in 12 matches and had conceded 11 goals in their previous 2 away games but put in a stunning performance to win 4-1 at the New York Stadium with Simon Makienok finally delivering the goods and scoring twice.

That will be a huge lift coming into another relegation six-pointer and 3 points here is likely to move them out of the bottom three which would be a tremendous boost to their survival hopes which had looked to be fading fast going in to last weekend’s match.

Interim boss John Pemberton will again take charge of Bristol City here. Since surprisingly beating Middlesbrough 1-0 in his first game, the Robins haven’t scored in 3 matches. They’ve only let in 2 goals but those contributed to 1-0 defeats against West Brom in the FA Cup and Leeds in the league prior to a goalless home draw with Birmingham last weekend.

That kept them ticking along but they remain in the bottom three coming into this one. Despite their poor overall form, Charlton have managed to scrounge out draws from 4 of their last 5 home games. Bristol City meanwhile have lost their last 4 on the road in the league without scoring so backing Charlton to at the very least avoid defeat at 8/11 looks really good value.

The confidence from their big win last weekend may fire them on to do even better than that. It’s likely to be close but they look a decent shout to win 2-1 at 11/1.
