Charlton vs Fulham Predictions
After making a bright start to the season, Charlton are in freefall and the pressure is really on manager Guy Luzon to avert the run and avoid being the 3rd managerial casualty of the season in this league already.
It is worrying enough that they have lost their last 4 matches but the manner of some of those defeats is perhaps the most concerning thing for Charlton fans right now. They’ve conceded 11 goals in their last 4 matches with Blackburn and Huddersfield amongst their opponents, two sides who you’d expect Charlton to be at the very least matching.
Fulham have lost 3 of their last 4 too but they did crush QPR 4-0 in a London derby only last weekend. Their 3-0 home defeat to Wolves in midweek no doubt wouldn’t have come about had Tom Cairney not been sent off for the hosts in the first half with the score at 0-0 and they’ll be keen to banish that memory with a positive showing here.
It has been a mixed start overall for Fulham who are a few places higher up than their South-East London opponents on 11 points. The win over QPR clearly demonstrated the quality they do possess and they are always a threat going forward, which is bad news for a Charlton defence which has been leaking goals.
Certainly they will be the more confident side here and at 15/8 the visitors look really good value to seal the win. Charlton have just 1 point from their last 5 league matches and if they go behind, it’s hard to see them coming back the way they have been playing of late.
Fulham are an improved outfit on last year and look a bit better at the back as that clean sheet against free-scoring QPR proved. At long odds of 14/1 you can back them to come here and win 2-0.
