      Charlton vs Wolves Predictions

The Addicks picked up a point on Boxing Day and it was a decent one, away from home against fellow strugglers Bristol City. Harry Lennon netted a 90th minute leveller for the Londoners to secure a 1-1 draw and that would certainly have meant a happier journey home and they will go into this match in a much more positive frame of mind as a result.

Wolves will also approach this with a bit of a bounce although in truth they were a little fortunate to beat Reading 1-0 on Boxing Day. Having won only 1 of their 8 previous matches it was a much needed 3 points just when it looked like the Black Country side were in danger of being dragged into an unlikely relegation scrap.

The visitors are favourites to win this one with the bookies but it’s hard to really justify that given their recent performances and results. They were crushed 4-1 at Sheffield Wednesday in their last away match and although this is a far less tricky game, they are not playing the sort of football where you can be confident about backing them to win on the road and they’ve only picked up maximum points in 7 of their 23 games in the league this season, a far lower percentage than what they managed last term.

That’s still 3 more than their opponents but even though Charlton look a poor side, they are scrapping and have avoided defeat in 5 of their last 8 matches and their last two at the Valley. Therefore backing Charlton to do likewise here at 4/6 might be worth a punt.

It’s hard to see either side having enough to win this one though and a repeat of Charlton’s 1-1 Boxing Day draw is perhaps the most likely outcome here and can be backed at 5/1.
