Chelsea vs Juventus Predictions

  • There have been under 2.5 goals scored in seven of Juventus’ last 10 games.
  • Chelsea have six clean sheets in their last eight games, Juve have six in their last 10.
  • The reverse fixture finished 1-0 to Juve.
  • Three of Chelsea’s four group stage fixtures have seen just one goal scored.

Chelsea and Juve battle it out for top spot

Juventus have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Chelsea but are yet to guarantee top spot in Group H.

The Italian giants have a perfect record with 12 points from four games, while Chelsea have nine on the board with their only defeat coming via a 1-0 loss in Turin.

A draw would probably be enough for Juve to claim first place and for Chelsea to qualify, and as such a tight game may well be on the cards at Stamford Bridge

Goals at a premium in London

Chelsea have the best defensive record in the competition with just one goal conceded so far, while Juve are one of a trio of teams who have only shipped two.

With both backlines in fine form I’m not expecting fireworks in this one, or at least not in terms of goals, and under 2.5 goals stands out four our main bet here.

The Old Lady did go through a spell at the end of October where both teams scored over a run of four games but they’ve since rediscovered their defensive solidity and head to Chelsea in search of a third straight clean sheet. There have been under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last 10 games and they’ve managed six clean sheets during that run too.

Under 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in seven of Chelsea’s last 12 games, but they’ve scored most of the goals themselves during that period. The Blues have six shut-outs in their last eight across all competitions, and with both defences in fine form here we’re not anticipating too many goals in this match-up. There have also been fewer goals in the Premier League side’s European games, with three of their four games so far producing just one goal.

Defences could come out on top

Given just how strong these two teams are at the back it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see these sides cancel each other out and I’m going to go for a 0-0 result in the correct score market. Chelsea were perhaps unlucky to lose in Turin and they did create a few chances, but they haven’t been prolific scorers in Europe this season either and may well end up frustrated once again. With a draw good enough for Juve to top the group, the Italian outfit are unlikely to be too adventurous on Tuesday and won’t cause their hosts too many problems but they can rely on their solid backline to ensure they pick up the point they need.
