      Chelsea vs Scunthorpe Predictions

Chelsea’s shockingly bad start to the season just never seemed to end, and has eventually resulted in the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Guus Hiddink has made some progress in getting the Premier League champions back to form though. He is yet to be beaten since taking over, with draws against Watford and Manchester United preceding a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.

This victory over Crystal Palace was by far the best performance of the season from Chelsea, and the players will have finally gained some confidence after putting in such a convincing performance.

They still sit all the way down in 14th position though, so they will be focusing largely on trying to improve their league position. With Champions League fixtures coming up as well they will be desperate to avoid a replay.

Scunthorpe aren’t in bad form coming into this game, but their lack of winning mentality has left them in a mediocre 15th position in League One.

They have only lost one of their last seven matches in all competition, but four of those games have ended all square.

These two sides last met in 2005 in another FA Cup 3rd Round clash. Chelsea came away with a 3-1 victory and went on to win the cup that year.

Chelsea have managed to keep a clean sheet in back to back games now and have looked much better at the back since Guus Hiddink took charge. Scunthorpe haven’t been great up front either, so I think Chelsea have a good chance of keeping the League One outfit from scoring on Sunday.

This makes odds of 10/11 for Chelsea to Win to Nil look really good value, and I’m going to go for a comfortable 2-0 win for the home side at 6/1 as well.
